EXECUTIVE CHAIR

Elliot Thorpe is a freelance writer, having previously worked for Starlog and with the sites Den of Geek, Shadowlocked and Doctor Who TV as well as for Encore, the magazine for the entertainment professional.
In 2004, he scripted ‘Doctor Who – Cryptobiosis‘, starring Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant for Big Finish Productions and worked long-term with the West End stage production ‘The Definitive Rat Pack‘. His first novel ‘Cold Runs the Blood’ was released in 2013 and he contributed to the charity anthology ‘Seasons of War – Tales from a Time War’ in 2015. He has short stories published in the anthologies ‘Grave Matters’ (2014), ‘The Librarian’ (2017).
He enjoyed a close working relationship with Chinbeard Books and Spiteful Puppet Entertainment, serving as occasional editor and typesetter for a number of their publications, including actor Ian Ogilvy’s Withering Slights. He wrote for their line of official Robin of Sherwood continuation novels in 2020 and their Sherlock Holmes anthology in 2023.
In 2017, Elliot succeeded his late father Bernard H Thorpe as the DMA president, completing Just Dino – A Personal Recollection of Dean Martin, a work Bernard started in 1995 with Dino’s personal permission. A revised edition, Dean Martin – Recollections, was released in paperback in 2023, expanded with new and archival interviews. He now takes the role of Executive Chair for the DMA.
Elliot has a regular column in the San Francisco-based quarterly magazine ‘Search’, issues of which are downloadable here.
He is proud to be running the DMA, saying: “It’s an honor to have taken the baton, to continue the work both my father and Dino started back in 1960. While the DMA is a little different now (we are non-profit), we still continue to promote and showcase Dino’s life and career in the best and most-respectful way we can. I am immensely proud of what the DMA does and we happily welcome new members all the time. Incredibly, as we celebrate our 65th Anniversary in 2025, the DMA’s seven-decade legacy puts us in a unique position as ambassadors to Dino’s own incredible legacy. Here’s to the next 65 years!”
