Submissions Guide

Our Mission

We are the world’s first and only authorized independent society for Dean Martin. We have been established, with Mr Martin’s personal approval, since 1960 as ambassadors to his life and career. At every stage, we honor his talents and wholly respect him as an individual. We do not enter into nor will we tolerate tabloid journalism, scandal, negative and libellous and disrespectful comments or anything that could be considered derogatory or insulting to him, his career and his life.

Our Readership

Just Dino is published twelve times per year and is distributed electronically. It is a non-profit project that is made available gratis to DMA mailing list subscribers and accepted members of our official Facebook page.

We also annually publish The Dean Martin Association Yearbook to wholly fund-raise for selected global, validated charities.

How To Submit Articles

We consider completed manuscripts on spec, as well as original pitches. A query should include a thorough outline that introduces your article proposal and highlights each of the points you intend to make. Your query should discuss how the article will benefit our readers, why the topic is timely and why you’re the appropriate writer to discuss the topic.

  • We don’t accept or respond to queries via postal mail, phone or fax.
  • We don’t buy newspaper clippings but will accept donated clippings
  • We don’t buy reprints of articles previously published in other writing magazines

Interviews are almost always written in house. If you’d like to pitch an interview with a well-known individual, we request that you get approval from the subject prior to your pitch.

In today’s media environment, an article doesn’t just appear in print, but can become an interview on our podcast, a YouTube video, a blog or post on our website or a prompt for Facebook discussion. While it’s not required, writers who can cite supplemental ways in which their article might take shape in digital form will be given special consideration.

Contributed articles and guest posts for online publication may be submitted only to dmaarticlesubs@gmail.com for review. Submissions to any other email address managed by us, or via our social media pages, will not be accepted.

Please include a brief summary of your proposed article or guest post, or attach a Word document containing a completed article (500 to 2000 words).

Fees

We are non-profit. As a result, we do not pay writers, contributors, interview subjects, nor the DMA management, design, editing and marketing staff. Any article and guest posts must be submitted strictly on the understanding that the author/writer will not receive any monetary payment on receipt, nor if and when the article/guest post is published by us.

Rights and Ownership

We enforce the right to publish and republish any approved article and guest post at our leisure and in whatever format we choose. We will however always ensure the original writer is given credit.

We reserve the right to decline any submission without prejudice. Our decision on any submission acceptance or declinature is final and we will not enter into discussion.
