Matt Helm Rides Again

Regularly dismissed, occasionally maligned and sometimes ignored outright, love them or loathe them, Dino’s four spy movies form a distinct part of his repertoire.

We here at the DMA of course have all the time in the world for the Matt Helms films. We love them very much! Nobody does it better than Dean as a suave, lounge lizard super-spy with a bevy of Slaygirls and bad guys to deal with. Markedly different from the source novels of Donald Hamilton (and let’s face it, so were the Bond movies from Ian Fleming’s literary originals), they were designed with Dean in mind.

We’d like to point you in the direction of the team at Infinity Magazine, who last month released a special edition of the long-running and really rather excellent publication. They ran a fantastic piece on Dean’s tenure as Matt Helm and we highly recommend it. Click on the image to take you to Infinity’s site. You won’t be disappointed!

Christmas Nutcrackers

Originating from late-17th Century Germany, nutcracker dolls were often given as gifts and at some point became more associated with Christmas.

Every year for the Holiday Season, Dean’s hometown Steubenville, Ohio hosts its very own Nutcracker Village event, drawing thousands of people to the downtown. Over the years, the event has become a remarkable tourist attraction, supporting the local community and businesses as a result.

We at the DMA are delighted to sponsor the Dean Martin Nutcracker for 2024.

If you have the chance, we highly recommend you heading on over to Steubenville. With over 200 life-size nutcrackers, it’s the world’s largest collection. Running until January 10, 2025, the event is free and open to the public 24 hours a day, with additional events and activities on select days. Head on over to the official website for more details!

Important Announcement

It has come to our attention that there is a live website advertising “The Dean Martin Festival 2025” on a date unknown, with no exact location detailed or who would be in attendance. That website also  appears to have links or options to book tickets. We urge caution with regard to that site and the event it is advertising. Please be extremely vigilant when following links.

Our festival in Steubenville is, as far as we know, the ONLY such event for Dean happening in 2025 anywhere in the world.  To distinguish from any potential others, we have  rebranded our event to now be The Dean Martin Hometown Festival. Please contact us if you have any concerns.
